Bangkok Boathouse Village

Nowadays, in Bangkok, Thailand some people refuse to live on the land due to the high expense of living costs and property prices. They stick to the old traditional way of Bangkok living style; on the water.

"I see my future more on the land but living in the Chao Phraya River with my family is a cheaper way of life.

In the future, I want to be an auditor living on a boathouse after work with family." stated Float, a high schooler (Num's son) during his part-time job as a babysitter for another boathouse in the village.

The older generation of this boathouse village came here to work as a tug boat in the Chao Phraya River. Most of them were from Chao Phraya River Plain outside Bangkok. One family may own many boathouses for different purposes such as tug boat, living, and sleeping, private room, kitchen.

"back in the old days my parent set sail from Pichit Province (a province in northern Thailand); anchored and find a future here in Bangkok.

I grew up on boathouse I find its comfort here I won't move onto land." stated Pen, Num's wife.
